Chicago Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong will not participate in the Home Run Derby at the All-Star Game in Philadelphia next month. ESPN reported that the 24-year-old made the same decision last year. Crow-Armstrong said Tuesday he will take part someday but the time is not right yet.
The Cubs host the All-Star Game next summer. Crow-Armstrong hit his 18th home run of the season and his 11th in June during Tuesday's 9-7 victory over the San Diego Padres. Right-handed pitcher Jameson Taillon is scheduled to make a rehab start in the minors this weekend after throwing 40 pitches in a live batting practice session Tuesday.
Taillon carries a 5.19 ERA over 13 starts this season.
