nypost.comCubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong apologized Monday for using profanity during a verbal exchange with a fan the previous day. He said he regretted his choice of words and that the incident affected people in his life. The exchange occurred during a 9-8 loss when the outfielder could not catch a long drive at the wall.
A woman along the outfield fence told him he sucked and flashed a thumbs-down sign. Crow-Armstrong responded with a vulgar statement directed at her. “I just regret my choice of words the most, and who that affects in my life directly and indirectly,” Crow-Armstrong told reporters on Monday.
“I don’t think that any of the women in my life would ever think that I would use those kinda of words regularly, especially referring to them. ” “I am intense on the field and at a moment like that, I think I just let it get away from me a little bit. But again, poor word choice,” he added.
The woman told the Chicago Sun Times that her fiancé and brothers also reacted after hearing the response. There is no official word on further action regarding the incident.
