Dallas Fire-Rescue Assistant Fire Chief James Russ told reporters that crews responded to a call about a gas leak at the apartment complex shortly before the explosion.
100 firefighters responded to the scene after the explosion. DFR said at least four people were transported to different hospitals, but that it cannot confirm the number of victims at this time. No fatalities have been reported so far. "We are still in the process of locating victims," DFR spokesperson Jason Evans told CBS News.
Johnson said he is monitoring the situation and vowed to help those affected by the incident. "My prayers are with those injured, their families, and all those who have suffered loss from this tragic event," Johnson said on X. " After residents reported a gas leak in a Dallas apartment building, a massive explosion engulfed the building in flames.
