DeChambeau Records Triple Bogey on 11th Hole While Four Shots Behind at Open Championship
Bryson DeChambeau entered the final round of the Open Championship four shots behind the lead with eight holes remaining. He made no birdies and suffered a triple-bogey seven after an unplayable ball on the 11th hole at Royal Birkdale.

Bryson DeChambeau drove 301 yards into the left rough on the par-four 11th hole. His second shot advanced only eight yards from the rough. His third shot landed in deep fescue on the right side and was declared unplayable after an extensive search, resulting in a one-shot penalty. He took a 138-yard buggy ride back to the original tee area and recorded a triple-bogey seven.
He made no birdies during the round. Spectators responded by singing "Rory!" after the hole. The Guardian reported that DeChambeau's challenge ended at that point.
DeChambeau has 2.8 million subscribers on his YouTube channel. The week before the tournament he filmed himself playing the nine-hole Northwood golf club in the Redwoods, drawing more than 2 million views.
Scottie Scheffler stated on Sunday evening that he has never seen DeChambeau cheat in golf, including in putting contests, chipping contests, or amateur play. Scheffler added that DeChambeau may have been careless around his ball on the fifth hole but did not act intentionally.
The R&A stated that DeChambeau inadvertently changed the conditions of his shot by walking on the fescue on the fifth hole.
