The airport houses an Air Force base that conducts advanced flight training for pilot trainees. The government has named Muan county as the preliminary candidate site for relocating the airport. County officials have requested a review of the relocation process and said three conditions, including national-level incentives, must be met first.
Under the chip cluster project, Samsung Electronics Co. and SK hynix Inc. announced plans to invest a combined 800 trillion won, about 522 billion dollars, in the Gwangju and Honam region.
