Details of the incident Todd Curtis, a former Boeing safety engineer who now co-produces a podcast on flight safety, said the two jetliners came within about 300 feet. He described the event as significant because it involved two professional airline crews.

The Delta flight executed a go-around procedure after coordinating with air traffic control. The plane carried 129 passengers and six crew members and landed safely after the aborted approach.
