Democratic Hopefuls Raise Tens of Millions for 2028 Bids

Democratic senators and governors reported raising tens of millions of dollars in the second quarter of 2026 as they position themselves for potential 2028 presidential bids. Sen. Jon Ossoff raised $20 million and holds $42 million in cash on hand, the largest totals among the listed candidates. The funds were raised through his authorized federal campaign committee.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez raised $4.87 million and reported $16 million on hand. Rep. Ro Khanna raised $2.4 million and reported $16.9 million on hand. Gov. Josh Shapiro raised $12 million in the second quarter and $50 million since January 2025 through his state reelection account.

Sen. Mark Kelly raised $5.5 million and holds $23.3 million on hand. Sen. Cory Booker raised $1.2 million and holds $23 million on hand. Sen. John Kennedy raised $1.8 million and holds $18.6 million on hand.

Fight for the People PAC raised $1.3 million and holds $836,000 on hand. Sen. Rand Paul raised $616,000 and holds more than $6.7 million on hand. Sen. Ruben Gallego raised $473,000 and holds more than $2 million on hand. Sen. Chris Van Hollen raised $458,000 and holds $3.3 million on hand.

Sen. Elissa Slotkin raised $864,000 and holds $2.7 million on hand. Gov. Gavin Newsom's Campaign for Democracy PAC raised $33,000 and holds more than $7 million on hand. Gov. Greg Abbott's state PAC holds $67 million on hand. Sen. Ted Cruz raised $2 million and holds roughly $3 million on hand.
