Chevalier identifies as Afro-Latina. New York City Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani endorsed Chevalier. ” Duke ran as a Republican in the 1991 Louisiana gubernatorial election. Duke served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1989 to 1992 and was grand wizard of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan from 1974 to 1980.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries congratulated Chevalier on her primary victory in a Saturday social media post.
