Democratic Socialists of America backs candidates in upcoming primaries

Four victories have already been recorded in Colorado, Pennsylvania, and New York. The organization also backed an incumbent representative from New York.

Sparse polling shows the candidate running even with the current officeholder. The same state features another primary where Republicans hold a strong advantage. The Missouri primary is set for August 4.

Two additional candidates backed by the group are running in districts rated as solidly Democratic and solidly Republican. Wisconsin holds primaries on August 11. One of the two targeted seats is viewed as competitive in the general election. Florida and New Hampshire primaries follow on August 18.

Republicans have sought to gain the New Hampshire seat in past cycles. A staff member for House Democrats described the trend as a concern for party leadership if the chamber changes hands.
