Democratic Socialists of America Release Platform Proposing Senate Elimination and Other Structural Changes

The Democratic Socialists of America released an updated platform titled 'Workers Deserve More' on July 15, 2026, according to washingtontimes.com reported. The document calls for eliminating the U.S. Senate, abolishing the Electoral College, and replacing the presidency with a prime minister-style executive chosen by Congress.

It also seeks to abolish U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, expand the House of Representatives substantially, and replace the Supreme Court with a judiciary selected by and subordinate to Congress. com reported that the platform further includes wealth taxes on the wealthiest Americans and corporations, cancellation of student debt, a 32-hour workweek, blanket amnesty for illegal immigrants, Medicare for all, and universal childcare.

She described the Senate as 'an anachronism' that has existed for over 200 years without working. She added that the proposals would address power concentrated in the presidency.
