Democratic Socialists of America target primaries in Colorado, Michigan, Wisconsin

City results A DSA-backed candidate defeated an incumbent representative in one New York City congressional primary. Another DSA-aligned candidate won a state assembly primary against an establishment-backed opponent. The organization posted on social media that its focus would shift westward after the New York results.

Upcoming contests In Colorado's 1st Congressional District, a DSA-backed candidate is challenging an incumbent first elected three decades ago. The seat is described as solidly Democratic. DSA-aligned candidates are also competing in Michigan's Senate primary and Wisconsin's gubernatorial primary, both scheduled for early August.

Other primary outcomes In several other districts, candidates not aligned with the DSA prevailed. These included races in Manhattan, a swing district north of New York City, Utah, Maryland, and South Carolina.
