Demonstrators march on ninth anniversary of Grenfell Tower fire

As the group reached Ladbroke Grove, London Fire Brigade personnel lined the road. Some demonstrators hugged and shook hands with the firefighters.
Messages from the mother of one victim and the father of another were read aloud. Both messages called for faster progress toward criminal accountability.
Criminal investigation status Police and prosecutors announced last month that up to 20 companies and 57 individuals could face charges. Potential offences include corporate gross negligence manslaughter, fraud, health and safety breaches, and misconduct in public office.
Decisions on whether to bring charges are expected before next year’s tenth anniversary. A public inquiry concluded the 2017 fire was avoidable and found the tower had been covered in combustible cladding because of what the inquiry described as "systematic dishonesty" by firms that made and sold the materials.
