Deputy Minister MK Sharren Haskel voted against legislation that would expand state-funded daycare subsidies for haredi draft evaders. Haskel told The Jerusalem Post on Sunday that the legislation amounts to “backstabbing” Israelis serving in the military during wartime. “We are at war, and when we have a pyramid of priorities, security always has to be on the top,” she said.
The interview with Haskel was published by The Jerusalem Post on Sunday. A photograph shows Deputy Minister MK Sharren Haskel attending a plenum session at the Knesset assembly hall in Jerusalem on May 20, 2026.
