Two dermatologists identified specific niacinamide serums for dryness, inflammation, uneven tone, and texture. The products vary in price and include additional ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and zinc.
The IndependentTwo dermatologists shared their preferred niacinamide serums for addressing dryness, inflammation, uneven skin tone, and texture. Niacinamide, also known as vitamin B3, is described as improving elasticity, reducing fine lines, evening skin tone, improving texture, and reducing redness.
Dr Ketaki Bhate, consultant dermatologist at Kensington dermatology clinic No23. Skin, and Dr Aiza Jamil, consultant dermatologist at sk:n in Manchester, provided the recommendations. Both specialists noted that niacinamide is compatible with many other skincare ingredients and can be used daily.
Jamil recommended a 30ml fragrance-free serum gel containing 10 per cent niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, and a patented complex called Edafence technology. She described the formula as fast-absorbing, hydrating, and soothing, and stated it nourishes and calms stressed skin while defending against pollution.
Dr Bhate recommended The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, noting that niacinamide helps regulate sebum and reduce the look of congestion while zinc adds an anti-inflammatory effect. Dr Jamil also endorsed the product for oilier skin types. Both dermatologists recommended La Roche-Posay mela B3 anti-dark spot serum for pigmentation concerns.
Dr Jamil said it combines 10 per cent niacinamide with dark-spot firmware, and Dr Bhate noted it is excellent for those concerned about pigmentation in addition to barrier support. Dr Bhate also recommended The Inkey List serum, which contains 10 per cent niacinamide and 1 per cent hyaluronic acid.
She described it as a simple, straightforward option with good texture that layers well under moisturisers and sunscreens. For sensitive or reactive skin, Dr Bhate suggested a minimalistic formula that mixes well with other treatments. She advised applying two to three drops to the palm and then rubbing it into skin or adding it to a moisturiser.
