Devils Sign Forward Anthony Mantha to Two-Year Deal

The New Jersey Devils signed veteran forward Anthony Mantha to a two-year contract worth $9.5 million, the team announced Wednesday. Mantha will receive $5.4 million next season and $4.1 million in 2027-28. The 31-year-old forward recorded a career-high 33 goals and 64 points while averaging 15:11 of ice time per game on the Penguins' third line.

Mantha was selected 20th overall by the Red Wings in the 2013 NHL Draft. He spent his first five-plus seasons in Detroit before a 2021 trade to Washington, where he remained for three-plus seasons. The 6-foot-5, 240-pound forward was traded to Vegas in March 2024 and signed a one-year deal with Calgary in July 2024.

He appeared in just 13 games with Calgary after suffering a season-ending ACL injury. Mantha has 179 career goals and 188 assists in 588 NHL games. He has also represented Canada internationally, earning a silver medal at the 2019 Men's Ice Hockey World Championships.

The signing is part of the Devils' offseason roster adjustments following a season in which the team missed the playoffs. The team traded goalie Jacob Markstrom for forwards Evan Rodrigues, Jesper Boqvist and Ben Steeves. Mantha had sought at least a three-year contract after his one-year, $2.5 million deal with Pittsburgh expired.
