Imagineering worked with Lucasfilm for approximately 18 months on the project. The experience uses the same Unreal technology pipeline employed by Lucasfilm for film and television production, allowing assets from the film to appear directly in the ride.
An executive at Walt Disney Imagineering stated that the team began discussions with Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau after learning about the film. The same statement noted that a reference to the Anzellans species was added to the queue.
The attraction's timeline setting was adjusted to align with the new film. A Disney Live Entertainment executive said the change allowed the land to incorporate additional classic characters on a longer-term basis. Lucasfilm Sr. Creative Executive Matt Martin said the updates aim to connect moments from the film with the park experience, noting that guests may leave speaking in a manner similar to Grogu.
