DNC Releases 192-Page 2024 Election Autopsy Report

The Democratic National Committee released a 192-page report on Thursday examining the party's 2024 presidential election loss. Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin said he commissioned the review to answer how the party lost to Donald Trump again and where it should go from here.

The document, authored by Democratic consultant Paul Rivera and completed last December, urges a renewed focus on voters in Middle America and the South. It states that millions of Americans suffering from poor healthcare access, manufacturing and job losses, and failing infrastructure continue to vote against their interests because they do not see themselves reflected in the Democratic vision.

The report also points to reduced support and training for state parties, shifts in voter registration, and a persistent inability or unwillingness to listen to all voters. It criticizes the party's focus on identity politics.

Martin said he is not proud of the final product and that it does not meet his standards. He explained that he initially withheld the report because it lacked source material and was not ready for public release.

“I am not proud of this product; it does not meet my standards, and it won't meet your standards. ”

Martin apologized for creating a larger distraction by keeping the document secret. He said transparency is paramount even though the DNC cannot independently verify many of the claims because underlying data was not provided.

Some Democratic operatives expressed frustration over the timing.

Democratic strategist Steve Schale questioned why the findings were not shared during the 2024 campaign or completed with more contributors. The release comes as Martin faces questions about party direction ahead of the 2026 midterms. In Pennsylvania's 3rd District, progressive candidate Chris Rabb won a primary Tuesday for the seat being vacated by retiring Rep. Dwight Evans.
