Documentary Edit Intensive Selects Two Teams for 2026 Session

The session runs June 21–26 at Francis Ford Coppola’s All-Movie Hotel in Peachtree City, Georgia. The participating teams are Ameha Molla and Daniel Chávez-Ontiveros for the project Higher 15, and Crystal Kayiza and Stefani Saintonge for the project The Gardeners.

The week-long program pairs a director and editor from the same documentary project. Kristin Feeley, Director of Sundance Institute’s Documentary Film & Artist Programs, described the session as “a week of restoration and experimentation.” Advisors for the intensive include Andrea Chignoli, Blair McClendon, and Terra Long.

15 follows Ethiopian American filmmaker Ameha Molla as he investigates his uncle’s role in Ethiopia’s Red Terror and later efforts to bring a suspected war criminal to justice in the United States. The film moves between Denver and Addis Ababa. The Gardeners examines the work of aging women who maintain one of the oldest Black cemeteries in Mississippi and the connections they draw between memory, legacy, and daily life.
