Documentary Examines Unidentified Man Found in Georgia in 2004
A new Investigation Discovery series revisits the case of a man discovered unconscious behind a Burger King in Georgia. The program presents witness accounts and alleges possible links to unsolved Indiana cases.
hollywoodreporter.comA man was found naked and unconscious behind a Burger King in Richmond Hill, Georgia, on August 31, 2004. He had no identification and told hospital staff he could not recall his identity or how he arrived there. He was diagnosed with dissociative amnesia and later adopted the name Benjaman Kyle. He lived without a Social Security number or government identification for more than a decade.
Genetic genealogists led by CeCe Moore identified the man in April 2015 as William Burgess Powell. Powell had been reported missing from Indiana in March 1976. His family had believed he was deceased.
Evangelista produced the four-part series for Investigation Discovery. The program presents witness statements alleging Powell had ties to a Lafayette, Indiana, crime family and to George Keck. Keck worked as a janitor at Purdue University at the same time Powell did.
Keck was questioned in connection with the 1977 death of Purdue student Kristine Kozik, a case that remains unsolved. The series states Powell has not been charged with any crimes. Powell, now 77, has declined further contact with the filmmakers.
