Dodgers Defeat Rays 4-3 on Rojas Pinch-Hit Home Run
Miguel Rojas hit a go-ahead home run in the seventh inning to give the Dodgers a 4-3 win over the Rays. The victory ended a six-game road trip in which Los Angeles split its games.
Los Angeles TimesRojas entered the game as a substitute for Alex Freeland and drove the ball to center field. He had practiced celebratory dance moves in the dugout earlier in the day but crossed the plate without additional gestures.
The Dodgers had entered the game with a .227 batting average during their road trip. They split the six-game series, which concluded with a loss to the Chicago White Sox on Sunday. Rojas said after the game that the hit felt good and that each day presents a new chance to contribute to a win.
Ryne Nelson pitched seven innings for Arizona. Sparks coach Lynne Roberts said the team was not effective on either end of the court.
