thesouthafrican.comCBS Mornings is partnering with The Farmer's Dog to mark National Pet Month and highlight the bond between dogs and their owners. The company's CEO and co-founder Jonathan Regev said the brand began after his friend Brett Podolsky's dog Jada experienced repeated stomach problems.
A veterinarian recommended switching the dog to home-cooked meals, which Regev said changed the animal's condition. Regev stated that traditional dog food is often ultra-processed and may lack necessary vitamins and minerals. He and Podolsky started the company to address what they viewed as shortcomings in existing dog food options.
Regev said dogs can provide health benefits to people and that the company aims to return that favor through better nutrition. The Farmer's Dog is also working with The Oprah Podcast on episodes about dogs and their owners, including one featuring a military veteran and a service animal.
Oprah Winfrey said the series will help viewers understand why dog owners want to keep their pets healthy and happy. Regev noted that Winfrey's experience with dogs made the partnership a natural fit.
