DR Congo defeated Uzbekistan 3-1 in a World Cup group-stage match, advancing to the round of 32. The victory marks the first time Congo has reached the knockout stage of the tournament.
Nine of the ten African teams at the tournament have now qualified for the round of 32. The teams that have advanced include South Africa, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Senegal, Ghana, Egypt, Algeria and DR Congo. Tunisia is the only African team that did not advance.
