Drone Boat Interest Increases in Strait of Hormuz
Defense technology firms are developing autonomous surface vessels as the situation in the Strait of Hormuz continues. Havoc completed a $100 million funding round and delivered 32 drone boats to date.
Interest in autonomous surface vessels has increased as tensions persist in the Strait of Hormuz. Havoc, a Providence-based company, closed a $100 million Series A round last Monday led by Cobalt and Boardman Bay. The round brought the company's total funding to nearly $200 million.
Havoc's 14-foot Rampage boats use software that allows one operator to control multiple vessels through path-planning algorithms running on onboard GPUs.
