Rappler published a fact check on June 9, 2026, rating as false claims that the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Department of Education offer educational assistance through online registration links. Various posts appeared on June 8, the first day of classes for public elementary and high school students in academic year 2026-2027.

ph Updates” stated that P8,000 cash assistance plus school supplies would be given to students across all levels.

That post received over 1,220 reactions, 520 comments, and 110 shares. A second post from the same page said a school identification card or proof of enrollment was required to register via the provided link. The text read: “May anak ka ba na papasok ngayon?

A separate post from the Facebook page “DSWD Regional Network” claimed students could receive P7,000 cash assistance along with uniforms and school supplies. DSWD and DepEd stated there is no online registration for educational assistance.

DSWD stopped its online application process in 2022. Both agencies warned that posts promising cash aid in exchange for personal information are scams. DepEd said in 2025: “The public is warned that the posts on social media are fake news.

The department also cautioned against links that request confidential data. DepEd advised parents and guardians not to share children’s school information or identification with such posts. Both agencies directed the public to their official pages and websites for program information.

Rappler has previously debunked similar false claims, including posts about P25,000 aid in March 2026, UCT and 4Ps beneficiary lists, P29,000 cash aid from DSWD, unconditional cash transfer links, and OWWA scholarship links.
