Duffy to Play First Concert in Over 15 Years at Secret Small London Gig on 5 July

Duffy announced she will host a secret intimate gig on 5 July in London and perform new songs at the event. The Welsh singer said on social media that the show will have small capacity and be selected by ballot. She wrote that she would "love nothing more than for some of you to attend" and added that she will sing some new songs.

BBC News reported that this marks Duffy's first concert in more than 15 years. Duffy rose to fame in 2008 with her debut album Rockferry, which became the UK's best selling album of that year. She earned three BRIT Awards, a Grammy Award and an Ivor Novello Award.

Aimée Anne Duffy grew up between Gwynedd and Pembrokeshire. She had a hit single titled Mercy. In March it was announced that Duffy would give her first in-depth interview for a Disney+ documentary. She will share her experiences in the documentary.

Duffy released a second album and later announced a third album before stepping away from public life. In 2020 Duffy revealed in an Instagram post that she had been attacked. She published a personal essay on her website describing how she was drugged and taken to a foreign country where she was raped.

Duffy managed to escape her perpetrator, who has not been identified. She said "utterly no-one" knew about the assault and captivity, which she said had left her suicidal. Last month Duffy shared a black-and-white image from a recording studio on Instagram, writing: "If only I could find the right words to explain how much I've missed you all.

BBC News reported that the sexual assault and kidnapping led her to step away from public life.
