DUP Appoints Jim Gamble to Review Handling of Donaldson's Party Role After Conviction

The Democratic Unionist Party has commissioned Jim Gamble to lead an Independent Focused Safeguarding Review into Jeffrey Donaldson's time as a party member, The Bbc reported. Donaldson was convicted last month of 18 counts of sex abuse, including one count of rape, against two women when they were children.

Gamble, who formerly headed the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre, will conduct the review as part of the iNEQE Safeguarding Group.

A BBC Spotlight investigation revealed that two senior DUP members were made aware of separate allegations against Donaldson five years ago, when a young woman said she had been "exploited" by him. Gamble was appointed earlier this year to review the Presbyterian Church in Ireland's governance and safeguarding arrangements.

The Northern Ireland Survivor Council expressed "serious concern" about Gamble handling both reviews and called on the DUP to appoint a different organization.
