Dutch Police Detain Four Men on Allegations of Drugging and Sexually Abusing Women They Knew

Dutch police detained four men last week after raids on several houses across the Netherlands in an investigation into allegations that the suspects drugged women they knew, sexually abused them, and shared videos of the assaults. The men were arrested after police received information from authorities in Germany and the United Kingdom, the force said in a statement issued Thursday.

Officers seized phones and computers during the two-day operation and are now examining the devices to identify possible victims.

“Information indicates that possibly multiple women in the Netherlands were drugged by someone in their immediate circle. Subsequently, sexual acts were performed on the victims while they were being filmed,” the statement said. Police added that the suspects are believed to have used social media chat groups to exchange images of the abuse and advice on how to administer drugs.

Giséle Pelicot had been married to Dominique Pelicot for nearly 50 years.
