Dutch RDW Approves Tesla FSD Supervised for All Roads in Netherlands, Seeks EU-Wide Approval

Dutch Approval for Tesla FSD Supervised The Dutch RDW approved Tesla's Full Self-Driving Supervised system for use on all roads in the Netherlands.

This approval follows more than 18 months of tests and analysis conducted by the Dutch RDW on Tesla FSD. The Dutch RDW stated that proper use of Tesla FSD Supervised makes a positive contribution to road safety. Drivers must remain engaged and responsible when Tesla FSD Supervised is activated.

Tesla FSD Supervised utilizes the vehicle's external cameras and artificial intelligence to scan the surroundings. Tesla data shows collisions are up to seven times less likely per kilometre driven when FSD Supervised is engaged compared to manual driving.

Notification to European Commission The Dutch RDW notified the European Commission of its plan to seek EU-wide approval of Tesla FSD.

The Dutch RDW stated that approval of Tesla FSD in the Netherlands means it is good enough for Europe. The Dutch RDW also stated that the FSD Supervised technology for use in the EU is not comparable to the version used in the United States.

Tesla Rollout and Data Insights Tesla will roll out FSD Supervised to vehicle owners in the Netherlands via over-the-air software update over the coming days.

Tesla's vehicle fleet is exposed to more than 500 years of driving data every day. Tesla's official European account stated that FSD has been trained on billions of kilometres of real-world driving data. Tesla's official European account stated that FSD-equipped vehicles can drive almost anywhere, including residential roads, city streets, and motorways.

Elon Musk stated on X that this is the first Supervised FSD approval in Europe and congratulated the Tesla team and thanked the Dutch regulatory authorities. Elon Musk quoted Tesla Europe's post and stated that FSD technology handles Dutch roundabouts well.

Prior European Experiences Tesla started offering FSD Supervised Ride-Along experiences across Europe last year.

More than 13,000 people have used Tesla's FSD Supervised Ride-Along service in Europe so far. Tesla's official European account stated that it is excited to bring FSD Supervised to more European countries soon.
