Dylan Garand signed a two-year contract extension with the New York Rangers on Sunday, New York Post reported. The 24-year-old goaltender appeared in three NHL games during the season that just concluded. Garand wore jersey number 33 in a March 27, 2026, game against the Chicago Blackhawks.
He is positioned behind Igor Shesterkin on the organizational depth chart and is first in line to succeed Jonathan Quick as the Rangers backup goalie next season. The first year of the deal is a two-way contract that pays $850,000 at the NHL level and $400,000 in the AHL. The second year converts to a one-way contract at the NHL league minimum of $900,000 under the 2027-28 salary cap.
Garand broke through to the NHL level for the first time this past season and played well enough to position himself behind Shesterkin on the organizational depth chart, New York Post reported.
