Eagles Trade WR A.J. Brown to Patriots for 2028 First-Round Pick
The Philadelphia Eagles traded wide receiver A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots on Monday for a 2028 first-round draft pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick. Brown, who recorded 5,034 receiving yards with the Eagles, reunites with head coach Mike Vrabel.

J. Brown to the New England Patriots on Monday for the Patriots' 2028 first-round draft pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick that is the better of New England's two fifth-round selections. Brown played for the Eagles from 2022 to 2025 after the team acquired him during the 2022 NFL Draft.
In four seasons with Philadelphia, he posted two straight 1,400-yard seasons, caught 33 passes of at least 25 yards in his first two years with the team, and ranked second in the NFL in catches of 25-plus yards behind Tyreek Hill. The Eagles reached the playoffs in all four seasons with Brown, won three division titles, and appeared in two Super Bowls, including a 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX 15 months before the trade.
The team went 50-18 during Brown's tenure.
Brown recorded two 1,000-yard receiving seasons in his first two NFL seasons with the Tennessee Titans after the team drafted him in the second round in 2019. He caught 19 touchdowns and made the Pro Bowl during that span. Mike Vrabel was head coach of the Titans when the team drafted Brown.
Brown's production declined in 2025. He averaged 9 yards per reception, failed to record a reception in a half seven times, and finished with 1,003 receiving yards. It was the first season in which he was not the team's leading receiver.
He also averaged 9 rushing yards per game that year. CBS Sports reported that Brown publicly criticized the Eagles offense multiple times during the 2025 season. In one November appearance, he said the team could not keep slapping a band-aid over the defense doing its job and that the offense needed to pick up its slack.
