Authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo's eastern city of Goma increased health screenings after a confirmed Ebola case appeared in the M23-occupied city of more than two million residents.

The case is the first confirmed Ebola infection in South Kivu province, an area under the control of the Rwanda-backed M23 militia. The armed group's spokesman announced the confirmation on Thursday.
