Ebola Cases Rise Rapidly in Congo and Uganda Since Late May

The World Health Organization said Monday that Ebola infections and deaths have increased rapidly in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda since late May. The agency issued the statement without releasing updated case counts or outlining specific containment steps.

Both countries have managed prior Ebola outbreaks with support from international health partners. The current rise follows a period of lower reported activity earlier in the year. Health ministries in the affected areas have not issued public updates on new measures since the WHO statement.
