france24.comA senior program manager for Médecins Sans Frontières said the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo is creating major logistical problems for aid groups. Kate White, who flew from Manchester Airport on Sunday, stated she is "extremely concerned about the inability to get resources" to the country. She added that the volume of supplies required is "massive."
Response challenges White said improvements are needed in rapid diagnostic testing across affected areas so patients without the disease can be discharged quickly. She also expressed concern that airspace restrictions could slow the movement of health workers and equipment.
"This [outbreak] has been going on for a substantive period of time before it was picked up, which means we don't fully understand the chains of transmission," White said.
