The draw for the preliminary round of the 2026-27 EFL Cup paired York City against Crawley Town and Tranmere Rovers against Rochdale. The ties are scheduled for the weekend of 1-2 August.
bbc.co.ukUk reported. The draw was conducted by former Derby, Nottingham Forest and Birmingham goalkeeper Lee Camp. York City and Rochdale are newly-promoted National League sides.

The winner of York City versus Crawley Town will proceed to the Southern section of the round one draw. The winner of Tranmere Rovers versus Rochdale will join the northern section of the round one draw. The round one draw will take place on 25 June.
Ties in the preliminary round are expected to take place during the weekend of 1-2 August. The regionalised sections of the draw will be re-adjusted ahead of round two of the 2026-27 EFL Cup.
