Egypt Seeks Greater Korean Investment at Seoul Reception Marking Revolution Anniversary

Egyptian Ambassador Hazem Zaki called for greater investment from South Korean companies during a reception in Seoul on July 16 marking the 74th anniversary of Egypt's July 23 Revolution. Yonhap reported that Zaki said Egypt offers a large market and strategic access to Africa, the Middle East and Europe through its location, infrastructure and trade agreements.
Zaki stated that Korean firms can contribute to Egypt's development under its Vision 2030 strategy while gaining benefits themselves.
He noted progress in infrastructure and renewable energy despite global challenges and highlighted the Suez Canal Economic Zone as a hub for industry and logistics. Seoul and Cairo are advancing negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement to boost bilateral trade and investment, Yonhap reported.
South Korean President Lee Jae Myung visited Egypt in November 2025 for talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
El-Sisi is scheduled to visit South Korea later in 2026. Zaki added that the two nations share commitments to multilateralism and peaceful conflict resolution amid global challenges.
