Eight People Including Four Children Shot in Brooklyn on July 4

Gunfire erupted near West 31st Street in Coney Island around 10:37 p.m. on July 4, striking eight people who had gathered to watch fireworks. Police responded to reports of shots fired and recovered a firearm at the scene. Officers also found a book bag containing a gun under nearby trees.

The injured include two men, two women, and four children aged 14, 12, 7, and 6. All eight victims were taken to local hospitals. Seven remain in stable condition. A 21-year-old woman is listed in critical condition after being shot in the chest.

The incident remains under investigation.
