Eleven NFL Teams Open Final Mandatory Minicamps This Week
The last practices before late-July training camps begin for the remaining squads after 17 teams completed sessions last week.
ESPNEleven NFL teams will hold their mandatory minicamps this week, the final on-field work before training camps open in late July. Seventeen teams completed their three-day sessions last week, while the Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers held theirs June 2-4. The Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers canceled their planned minicamps.
Attendance questions remain for New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara and Dallas Cowboys receiver George Pickens. New York Jets reporters will monitor how Geno Smith distributes passes beyond Garrett Wilson, the established No. 1 option.
Adonai Mitchell is listed as the No. 2 receiver, and first-round wideout Omar Cooper Jr. is expected to compete for targets. First-round tight end Kenyon Sadiq remains out until training camp after hernia surgery, leaving incumbent Mason Taylor, who led the team with 44 catches last season, to build on that total.
Cincinnati Bengals staff will test how newly acquired defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence II, defensive lineman Jonathan Allen and edge rusher Boye Mafe fit alongside young edge players Myles Murphy and Shemar Stewart. The additions followed an offseason emphasis on pass-rush depth. Tennessee Titans coaches will track timing between quarterback Cam Ward and rookie wideout Carnell Tate.
Ward said during OTAs that showing early trust in Tate with the football matters, and minicamp offers the next chance to convert film-room work into on-field chemistry. The Titans view Tate as having the tools to develop into a No. 1 receiver.
