StatEli Lilly said Tuesday it will acquire three early- and mid-stage vaccine developers. The companies are Curevo, LimmaTech Biologics, and Vaccine Company. Together the transactions could cost up to nearly $4 billion.
The drugmaker is targeting vaccines against shingles, Epstein-Barr virus, and other pathogens that can cause long-term health issues. Lilly has used cash generated by its GLP-1 business to complete several acquisitions in recent months. Those earlier purchases covered companies working on cancer, autoimmune diseases, and sleep disorders, each valued under $10 billion.
The new transactions mark Lilly’s latest expansion beyond its core metabolic and obesity portfolio. No financial terms for the individual deals were disclosed. The company did not name specific closing dates or regulatory conditions.
