England Advances Past Norway 2-1 in Extra Time; Norway Reaches Quarterfinals for First Time

England defeated Norway 2-1 in extra time on July 11 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, to reach the World Cup semifinals for the first time since 2018. Jude Bellingham scored both goals for England. Andreas Schjelderup gave Norway the lead in the first half.

Bellingham equalized before halftime with a left-footed strike after a run into the penalty area, and the match stayed tied 1-1 through regulation time. Clement Turpin of France refereed the game. Bellingham scored the winner in the third minute of extra time.
Argentina defeated Switzerland 3-1 in extra time in the other quarterfinal. Julian Alvarez scored a long-range strike for Argentina in extra time, and Lautaro Martinez added a goal with seconds left. Breel Embolo received a red card, leaving Switzerland with 10 players.
The semifinals will feature France against Spain and England against Argentina on Wednesday. England's match will be broadcast live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Trade minister Rhondda Bryant said if England wins the World Cup then it would be quite difficult to get anybody into work for quite a while.
