England defeated Mexico 3-2 in a FIFA World Cup round-of-16 match, GB News reported. The result sent England into the quarter-finals. Jude Bellingham scored two goals and Harry Kane converted a penalty for the third.
England played more than 40 minutes with 10 men after Jarell Quansah received a red card. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer posted on social media that the match was one of the greatest England games he had ever seen and that the team was through to the quarter-finals. Bellingham told supporters to have another shot and text their bosses to say they were not coming in the next day.
He said he could imagine scenes of celebration across the country and added that he was proud of the team for what they had achieved. Bellingham also said the atmosphere at Azteca Stadium was the best he had experienced in international football. England will play Norway in the quarter-final on Saturday in Miami.
