England posted 201 for seven after opener Phil Salt made 70 runs. Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue then shared seven wickets as India were dismissed for 76 at Trent Bridge. Archer said Salt’s innings helped set up the victory. Salt faced a maiden over early and later scored 53 runs from his final 25 balls.
Archer took three wickets in the powerplay.
He and Tongue both bowled above 90 mph. Archer said the pair enjoyed bowling together and that small adjustments produced results.
India captain Shreyas Iyer said the performance was unacceptable.
He said the team must improve execution and that individuals need to take responsibility. The series moves to Bristol on Thursday.
