English Woman Charged With Murder in Dubai Faces Possible Death Penalty

A 23-year-old woman from Kent, England, faces a murder charge in the United Arab Emirates that carries a possible death penalty. She met the 26-year-old British man online and had visited Dubai once before the incident. The woman was arrested in the early hours of June 22, 2026, at Bur Dubai Police Station after the man was stabbed.

A London-based advocacy group, Detained in Dubai, states she reached for a kitchen knife during an alleged attack by the man.

Detained in Dubai says the relationship had become controlling and abusive. The group alleges the man withheld her passport, arranged a professional photo shoot during her first visit, and showed disturbing videos on his computer. The woman’s mother told the group that her daughter seemed quiet and unhappy the day before the incident and was terrified when she called after the stabbing.

UK authorities are reported to be assisting the family.

The woman, who has 100,000 TikTok followers and 10,000 Instagram followers, remains in custody. Bur Dubai Police Station previously drew attention after the 2011 death of a British tourist in its custody. Social media users have posted both critical and supportive comments about the case.
