Enzyme DGK-zeta Supports Antibody Production and Memory B Cell Formation

The work combined cell-culture experiments with studies in living animals. The enzyme functions as a key regulator within B cells, the white blood cells responsible for producing antibodies. Without DGK-zeta, both antibody output and the generation of long-lived memory cells declined in the tested models.

Experiments were conducted both in isolated cells and in whole organisms to confirm the enzyme's role. Results from the two approaches aligned, indicating consistent effects across the tested conditions. The study concludes that DGK-zeta acts as a central control point in the B cell response. Further research may examine whether altering the enzyme affects immune protection in other contexts.
