Erin Brockovich Launches Site for Resident Reports on AI Data Centers

com to collect self-reported concerns from residents about operational, proposed and under-construction AI data centers. Newsweek reported that the effort began after Brockovich received 30 emails from the same community one morning regarding the same issues.

Brockovich appeared on comedian Theo Von's podcast This Past Weekend on Sunday.

She said she created the site to map issues after her own research left questions unanswered. "When I put this map out, in the first 72 hours, the map crashed twice, and I woke up on day three going, oh my God, it's not one town and one aquifer and one data center, it's the entire country," Brockovich said.

The site now contains more than 8,000 community-reported locations alongside dozens of projects.

Residents reported waking up to construction without prior notification from city councils, and Brockovich alleged that confidentiality agreements have limited public awareness in some communities. Brockovich became known for building a case against Pacific Gas & Electric over groundwater contamination in Hinkley, California.

PG&E agreed to a $333 million settlement in 1996 related to chromium-6 contamination from the 1950s and 1960s.

Julia Roberts portrayed Brockovich in the 2000 film dramatizing events from the early 1990s.
