The Authority for European Political Parties and European Political Foundations is preparing to investigate the Europe of Sovereign Nations Group over accusations including use of the term remigration. De-registration would end the group's funding and operations in the European Parliament.
zerohedge.comThe Authority for European Political Parties and European Political Foundations is seeking to de-register the Europe of Sovereign Nations Group, a move that would strip the alliance of all funding. @zerohedge reported that the APPF has prepared a 300-page dossier and plans to open an investigation that would allow the group to respond before any final decision.
German MEP Alexander Sell, a founding member of the ESN and president of its associated Sovereignty Foundation, said the APPF director Pascal Schonard previously worked in the cabinet of Klaus Welle at the CDU.
Sell stated that the AfD, the largest member party of the ESN, polls at 29 percent nationally in Germany and above 40 percent in some eastern states. Sell added that the ESN altered its statutes last Friday to place a representative from each of its nine member parties on the board. He said the change aims to improve oversight of statements by national members.
Sell said the APPF action appears to be an easier route than pursuing a ban through Germany’s Constitutional Court. The APPF cited the term “remigration” as one basis for the de-registration effort. Sell noted that other European parties use similar language without facing equivalent scrutiny.
