European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen arrived in Kyiv on Wednesday to announce new initiatives aimed at integrating European and Ukrainian defense industries. The visit came one day after European and Ukrainian military units participated in the Bastille Day parade on the Champs-Elysees in Paris.
Von der Leyen described the moment as special and stated that Ukraine has built strong military momentum. She said the tide is turning in the conflict.
Ukrainian officials said drones struck 20 Russian vessels in the Black Sea overnight. Russian forces targeted the Ukrainian ports of Odesa and Chornomorsk, according to the same reports.
Brussels, EU ambassadors continued work on the 21st sanctions package targeting Russia. The package had been scheduled for adoption on Monday but faced delays over proposed measures, including a price cap on Russian oil.
Serbia's president also traveled to Kyiv, arriving after a route through Moldova and central Ukraine. Germany's Friedrich Merz is scheduled to hold a summer press conference later in the day.
