Euky Bear humidifier recalled after reports of burns and smoke

The Therapeutic Goods Administration directed a full recall of the Euky Bear vaporiser model EBSV2013 in May 2025 after the agency received additional reports of overheating, smoke, and burns. The recall followed an earlier partial recall issued in September 2023 that covered four batches. The later action applied to all batches of the model.

The TGA recorded 55 adverse-event reports for the device since 2021. Two of those reports described infants who required skin grafts after third-degree burns. One 2022 consumer report stated an infant suffered a full-thickness burn to two fingers requiring a skin graft.

Another report described a vaporiser that overheated, produced smoke, and filled a child’s bedroom with a plastic odor, prompting a hospital visit.

A spokeswoman for sponsor Felton Grimwade & Bosisto’s said the company extended the recall after further information emerged and apologized for the impact on families. A TGA spokesman said the initial partial recall was based on early data and that a subsequent investigation led to the full recall. The spokesman noted that therapeutic goods must be registered to be lawfully supplied in Australia.

The sponsor cancelled the device’s registration in March 2026. Despite the cancellation, a newer model without registration was offered for sale online in early May 2026. University of Sydney health-law expert Christopher Rudge stated that supplying an unregistered device is unlawful and subject to penalties.

Dick Smith and Cosmetics Squad later removed the listing and arranged refunds for affected purchases.
