Eurozone Core CPI Rises 2.4 Percent Year Over Year in June

Eurozone core consumer prices rose 2.4 percent year over year in the June preliminary reading. The figure came in below the 2.5 percent forecast and the prior 2.6 percent reading. The headline CPI increased 2.8 percent from a year earlier.

That reading fell short of the 3.0 percent estimate and the previous 3.2 percent pace. Core CPI on the same year-over-year basis matched the 2.4 percent flash print and was below the 2.5 percent estimate. The prior core reading stood at 2.5 percent.

On a month-over-month basis, the CPI declined 0.1 percent. Analysts had projected a 0.1 percent gain, matching the previous month's result.
