Everett Silvertips Shut Out Kelowna Rockets 4-0 in Memorial Cup

Defensemen Kayd Ruedig and Jaxon Pisani scored 25 seconds apart in the first period as the Everett Silvertips defeated the host Kelowna Rockets 4-0 on Wednesday night in the Memorial Cup. Everett improved to 2-1 in round-robin play and will face Chicoutimi on Friday for a berth in Sunday's final against Kitchener. Kelowna finished 0-3.

Ruedig opened the scoring at 7:22 of the first period with a shot from the right boards. Pisani scored at 7:47 on a shot from the left point. Matias Vanhanen made the score 3-0 at 1:03 of the second period. Anders Miller stopped all 28 shots he faced for Everett.

Harrison Boettiger replaced Josh Banini in the Kelowna net and allowed one goal on 22 shots. Carter Bear scored Everett's fourth goal in the third period. Everett had previously beaten Chicoutimi 5-3 and lost to Kitchener 6-2 in round-robin games.

Chicoutimi will play without defenseman Jordan Tourigny after the Canadian Hockey League suspended him Wednesday for a match penalty Tuesday night against Kitchener. S. team to win the Memorial Cup.
