Ex-JPMorgan Banker Sues Executive Director Alleging Coercive Sex, Threats and Racist Abuse
Chirayu Rana, 35, filed suit last week accusing JPMorgan executive director Lorna Hajdini, 37, of drugging him and coercing him into degrading sex acts. Manhattan prosecutors investigated the claims last summer, found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing and referred Rana for mental health treatment.
AdrianLMiller / Wikimedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)" The 35-year-old Rana leveled the allegations against Lorna Hajdini, a 37-year-old JPMorgan executive director. He accused her of drugging him, coercing him into degrading sex acts, calling him racist names and threatening his career if he refused, according to the suit filed in Manhattan. The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office started looking into Rana’s claims last summer.
It launched a criminal investigation into the accusations that Hajdini had turned him into a “sex slave,” according to sources familiar with the case. The probe was thrown out after no evidence of criminal wrongdoing was uncovered. Prosecutors found no evidence behind Chirayu Rana’s sex slave claims and referred him for mental health treatment under the office’s victim support services.
The DA’s office declined to comment when asked if investigators had probed Rana’s claims. Rana’s attorney didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. Rana referenced what he called an “open criminal investigation” and his mental health treatment in updated court filings submitted on Monday.
In those same filings he asked to remain anonymous in the suit. Rana became enrolled in the state’s Address Confidentiality Program following a referral by the DA’s office last September. A counsellor with the Survivor Services Bureau of the New York County District Attorney’s Office engaged with Rana in connection with the open criminal investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Trial Division.
Rana initially sought mental health care from psychotherapist Jonathan Albert in early February. He sent an email to the therapist in June last year describing mental health symptoms including hearing Hajdini’s voice inside his head and recurrent nightmares about the alleged assaults. The therapist diagnosed Rana with PTSD in October.
Rana’s new filing includes an anonymous witness statement from a friend who claims Hajdini invited him to join a threesome with her and Rana. A JPMorgan internal probe found no evidence of wrongdoing by Lorna Hajdini. The internal probe reviewed emails, records, and devices.
Rana would not cooperate with the internal investigation. JPMorgan has insisted Rana’s allegations are entirely fabricated. JPMorgan and Lorna Hajdini have both strenuously denied the allegations. Rana lied to his employer that his father was dying so he could go on paid leave.
He used the paid leave time to prepare the lawsuit.
“independent third-party institutional engagement with me as a victim, predating by months the filing of this action”
“— Chirayu Rana court filing The developments come after the lawsuit, initially filed under the pseudonym “John Doe,” gained public attention due to the nature of the claims. Prosecutors referred ex-JPMorgan banker Chirayu Rana for mental health treatment after finding no evidence behind his sex slave claims.”
